Why Intermittent Fasting Is Good

Intermittent fasting is an eating pattern where you cycle between periods of eating and fasting.

Numerous studies show that it can have powerful benefits for your body and brain.

Here are 10 evidence-based health benefits of intermittent fasting.

1. Intermittent Fasting Changes The Function of Cells, Genes and Hormones

When you don’t eat for a while, several things happen in your body.

For example, your body initiates important cellular repair processes and changes hormone levels to make stored body fat more accessible.

Here are some of the changes that occur in your body during fasting:

DIY – Beat the Winter Blues – Mood Boosting Room Scents

Although I say this a lot (and this time I really mean it), these room sprays are incredibly simple to make. You only need four things–water, alcohol, essential oils and several little spritz bottles–to get started.

While bergamot, lavender and chamomile are popular choices when it comes to mood-boosting fragrances, feel free to mix and match using oils you already have on hand. And if you find that the smell of alcohol overpowers the essential oils, swap it out for something subtler like witch hazel.

COLLAGEN BENEFITS AND RECIPES

Collagen is gel-like, colorless, and odorless. Like all proteins, collagen is comprised of amino acids. The main amino acids are glycine and proline.

Collagen hydrolysate has been heated to high temperatures and treated with enzymes. The bonds between the amino acids are broken, although the amino acids themselves are left intact.

MOISTURIZING GREEN TEA BODY WASH

Since green tea is chock full of healing antioxidants, flavonoids and catechins, it can help soothe skin and counteract the effects of free radical damage from sun exposure and environmental toxins. Studies even show that green tea may help soothe inflammation and protect skin from cancer caused by sunlight. When combined with extra moisturizing ingredients like shea butter, coconut oil and honey, this body wash sinks into parched skin and creates a protective barrier against the elements. And because it uses castile soap as its base, it lathers like a dream without stripping skin of its natural oils–thus leaving your skin even softer than before.

12 Week Strenght Training Routine

After months and months of asking, I have finally decided to post on a weightlifting routine that you can do in the gym. Now, most of you know that since having my son, I stopped going to a gym altogether, but I instead workout from home.

A common questions that I get is, “Can you get the same results working out at home than from a gym?”Sure, you can! It just takes a little more time when you are working out at home only.

However, I am not stupid and I know that most moms just do not have that extra time to make it to the gym everyday-this is why I created my very own and affordable 12 week home workout program that uses barely ANY equipment! Instead, the program uses your bodyweight and one pair of dumbbells. It is absolutely perfect for busy mommies who want to workout when baby is asleep, for when it is super cold or super hot ouside, or just want to workout in the comfort of their own home.

Moringa – Newest Superfood

It’s got a snappy name – Moringa – and nutritionists are crediting it with just about every health benefit under the sun, so it’s a mystery that we haven’t woken up to it previously. But wellness fanatics are finally starting to catch on. Here’s what you need to know about it.

Moringa is a tree that grows in dry climates across Africa and Asia. It’s also known as the Drumstick Tree for its shape, or the Horseradish Tree for the taste of its roots, and thousands of the plants are scattered across the foothills of the Himalayas. Its pods, bark and even twigs have been cooked and eaten for centuries, but the powder, made by grinding its leaves, is what’s started sending health addicts into a frenzy.

DIY Brown Sugar Lip Scrub

The sugar scrub will exfoliate all of the dead, flaky skin off of your lips, while the coconut oil moisturizes.  The honey gives the scrub a nice texture and scent and the cinnamon will increase blood flow to your lips causing them to be plumper after using the scrub!  The vanilla is optional along with the cinnamon, but I really recommend adding this to your scrub since it makes it smell SO amazing.

Detox Face Mask

Bentonite clay is a “superfood” I often use in my home. It has cleansing and detoxifying effects that are beneficial to our bodies internally and externally. When used on the skin, bentonite clay will help draw out and absorb impurities. This makes it a wonderful ingredient to use in homemade skin care products like this detox face mask.

This clay mask also calls for coconut oil, lemon juice and honey which help clean the skin with their anti-bacterial properties.
